With such a short field this race turned into a bit of a disappoint.
Instagrand looks to be seriously unbeatable here and with the M/L odds against 4 opponents - this is a huge dud.
If any of them have any sort of shot at 6f against Instagrand it should be the 5.40 index guy Owning.
This looks to be a favorable distance for his breeding but he is up against it.
The longest shot on the board, Sparky Ville, who has been forced to compete at ungodly short distances for his breeding is the one to watch. Doubtful he hits it here but to watch a Candy Ride Stamina horse compete against Instagrand and Owning should at least give this race a bit of punch. If this guy runs with them, he would be a very good one to keep watch on. These distances are way too short for him but he managed to win that 5f maiden last out. He is all stamina and his best comes much further down the line.
Instagrand is pretty impressive for young & short. Sparky Ville was also on the the whole way, so I'm curious how he would run off the pace and at least given 2 more f. Into Mischief colts look so much like Stormy Atlantic colts at 2, same colouring, very impressive& precocious at that age.
No surprise there, but Sparky is definitely the more interesting. They shoot him out of the cannon and he dutifully runs hard, but then he wants to settle into a long stride, They all give way except the winner & he's the only one to catch his breath and rally. Nice call Lisa.
Well I guess we already know who to single in the DelMar Futurity and we already know who the 2 year old Champ will be this year! The incredible thing about Instagrand is that he has the numbers for the Derby as well.
Sparky Ville will come into his own soon enough.
