Well since I don't live down there anymore, I don't get to see them in person.
I get a better read seeing them in person.
What do you think of the hype on War of Will? Lisa?
He seems like a nice colt, but I'm always a little leary of War Fronts, especially on dirt.
I'm taking flyers in both the Silverbulletday & Lecomte.
However I do keep coming back to WoW as a must use too.
This race is very involved and not an easy one to give a quick synopsis. I have to break it down into the categories because the field is too overloaded.
Stamina:
War of Will - Index 1.72. In this packed field War of Will, is the ONLY stamina guy on the field so he is an absolute must use in a superfecta. With Malpais and Tackett (Index 3.00) on his inside, those 3 will be first to the front. I think Malpais will fold. Tackett should hang tight and War of Will will blow by down the stretch. His stamina is greater by leaps and bounds. (Instilled Regard and Mo Tom won this race lately as the stamina standouts)
Middle Guys:
Plus Que Parfait - Index 2.47. He's a Presser with a ton of stamina to continue when the speed dies off. Mares are 100% stamina. Malpais is the only other mid guy on the field but he appears to have a style that is opposite of what his numbers read. He dies too hard at the end going so short even though his mares are overloaded in stamina. Out of those two, Plus Que stands way above.
3.00 Guys:
On this field, there are 7 of them. A ton of competition in this category. This category does not have any advantage as far as a win in this race as of late.
Tackett - Index 3.00. He's steady and he's proven on the track two times at the distance. Better than the rest in this category with a very nice set of mare triads (16-19-19). Board Hit type especially with his post position and style coupled with his numbers.
Tight Ten - Index 3.00. This guys set up reminds me very much of Bolt D'Oro, Enticed and McKinzie. And we all know how well they fared in the preps with those set-ups. Very Well. Must toss his last for hitting the rail. Prior races his speed was fantastic. His triads (15-9-16) are fantastic for Derby prep distances but horrible for the Derby itself.
Mr. Money & Hog Creek Hustle - Indexes 3.00. Mr. Money's ascending beyers need to be respected for a possible board hit. Hog Creek faltered running over 7f in the Iroquios for some reason. Could have been an off day for him because he truly has the stamina to continue at this distance. He could be a good longshot play.
Speed Guys: Usually hold some advantage in this race. Latest speed guys to win this race, International Star, Vicars in Trouble, Mr. Bowling.
Roiland - Index 4.00. A bit odd that he did not do well last out on a sloppy track. Mid Pack runner could be the reason. I'm 50-50 with this guy but I like his post over the other speed guys and he does seem to pick it up late. Board hit prospect.
Admire - Index 7.00. Cairo Prince boy with fantastic triads for the distance. Won his last on a sloppy track at 1 1/8th. Different surface and geared down. In the 14 gate which means he will either be running off the pace or he will expend a ton of energy early and really gear down at the end of this one. I like this guy and wish he was installed more on the inside. Extra money for an underneath shot just in case. I think he has a ton of potential but he was unlucky with this post.
Chase The Ghost - Index 3.67. Incredible set of numbers (Triads 17-22-19) Showed great late speed in his last finally going closer to his optimum. With a 10 post gate, he has a good shot here of making some noise late.
I'm not sure how I'm gonna configure this super but I'll most likely load up on the bottom. But writing this out actually helped me see a few things a bit more clearly. The first 4 colts on this list are the ones that I think have all the right stuff all the way around. The 5 underneath them on this list are the ones I will most likely scatter throughout.
Weather wise, I hear it most likely will be wet with dropping temps.
@SSilence86 Well if that is the case, Admire just stepped up 10 notches for me. It would have been 20 notches if he had a better post.
Oh well, Admire scratched. May be a blessing with that post anyway.
I knew not to look away from WoW.
Excellent win for this colt. He just moved up to be my co favorite.
